The NFP Group was created in 2007 by researchers from different backgrounds, with the aim of concentrating efforts in the development and application of nanostructured materials. The NFP Group belongs to the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA), a joint research centre of The Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR). INMA hosts the National Advanced Microscopy Laboratory (http://lma.unizar.es/), a facility with several advanced instruments, including two UHRTEM Titan microscopes with sub-angstrom resolution) and state-of-the-art characterization facilities (XRD, SEM, AFM, XPS, etc.).

The “Nanomaterials for solar energy harvesting” research line (https://nfp.unizar.es/research/#nanomaterials-for-solar-energy-harvesting) is a clear example of the multidisciplinary approach of the NFP group. We aim at developing new nanomaterials and nanoarchitectures able to harvest solar power in a more efficient and sustainable way. Most of the work focuses on emerging photovoltaic solar cells, but the materials and strategies developed can also be used in other areas like solar-driven photocatalytic processes or low cost environmentally friendly energy storage.
